Brown Sympathy and Get Well Cards

I taught a class how to make this first card on Thursday and then another full group today as well. It is fun to teach. The only iffy thing I have about it is I make up the stuff so long ago that when it comes to the day of the class I have to remake the card or whatever so I am fresh with what I am teaching. I just made up another class that I won't teach until the middle of September. On that one I took a ton of notes on each little step that I did to make the layout. It's a good workout for my brain, that's for sure. So I taught the ladies how to distress the edges using different tools they probably already have at home. One being an emery board. It works like a charm on the embossed cardstock. I also have small pieces of sand paper in my stash that the husband gave to me. That works well too. I also use the emery board on the edges of the brown paper too. It just gives a little worn look to it.
Isn't Crackle paint on that die cut fun to look at? I just adore Crackle paint right now. I love trying out new things to do with it. Did you know that Smooch ink dries on top of Crackle paint but doesn't dry on Liquid Pearls paint by Ranger? I found that out last week while playing around. It looks so cool applied to the Crackle paint. Next week I will have a project showing you what I did. But for now here are my two cards. I will quit talking now:)

The second card says Feel Better Soon. I'm not fond of the brown embossing powder that I am using. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good medium brown colored embossing powder that rocks? I am all ears. On this card I used a stamp by American Crafts Dear Lizzy Warable stamp set. I put distressing Stickles on the edges of the flower.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the tip at the top of the page and will come back tomorrow for more inspiration.

3 Cards using American Crafts Products

I made the following cards using the American Crafts collection called Abode. I really love the bold colors of this collection and how I was able to take other collections from AC and add them together. This first card has ribbon by Dear Lizzy, the stamp is from the I Do stamp set and the flower is by an entirely different collection as well. I took the chipboard buckle by Colorbok and painted it with a bingo dabber and then sprayed it with Perfect Pearls and water. The flower had a glitch in the corner so I took some Martha Stewart glitter glue and went around the edges of it. Now you would never know that something was wrong.

This happy birthday card is all American Crafts products except the thread, which is by Gudebrod. Oh and the ink on the yellow rectangle is by SU

Almost all of this card is by American Crafts. That rectangle rub on is from an older collection of rub-ons. the ink is by SU and the card base by Studio G.

Thanks for checking out my cards today. See you again tomorrow for something new. I have things lined up to post until August 2nd. So be sure to come back each day for some new inspiration.

Baptism

I used a distressing tool and ink by RI to do the sides of the patterned paper. The doves matched the dove in the drape on the podium. They are stamps by We R Memory Keepers using Versa Mark ink and Stampendous gold embossing powder. I then fussy cut them out of the cardstock. The letters are by CM, small date circle by ES; PP as a border is by Cosmo Cricket; digital stamp by Robyn's Fetish, colored in with Copic markers and then distressed. Thanks for looking at my layout today.

Merry and Bright

I have a few Christmas cards to share today. I know it's super early but I like to do things a little bit early and then have a million other things to do as the time draws near. This one is inspired by Creative Belli's challenge Christmas challenge. See the photo on their blog. The PP is by Best Creations; sticker by Imaginisce and rub ons by K and Co.

This next one is left over scraps from a squashed album class I took on Saturday. I loved the papers so much I made them into this simple card. Stamped sentiment by CTMH; PP by K and Co; CS by SU and RE; center stamp and snowflake rubon by American Crafts; ink by Clearsnap and RI.

This last one is a nontraditional colorful Christmas card that I made using papers from DCWV and the card is by Studio G. The stamp is by TPCo; ink by Versa Mark; embossing powder by SP; rick rack by TPS, rhinestones by BG and snowflake stickers by Jolees.

Thanks for looking.

Don't Feed the Bears Frame for I Did it Creations Challenge

This week our challenge is sponsored by JLJ Designs and provided us with the bear image and both background papers. I wasn't sure what type of card to make out of the image we were given so I made it like I would make a card and then framed it instead. So this first photo is without the frame and the second photo is with the frame. This way when I can still make it into a card by just taking it out and adhering it to a card base.

I'm using my frame art for the challenge at Going Grey of 2 patterned papers and 2 embellishments (jute and chipboard circle and Do it with Digi's challenge of including an animal.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for Manly Monday.

Imaginisce Prom Layout

This week I took a small break from the blog land action to work a few things out. So far it's been a better week then the previous 3 or 4 and with that I'm going to stay optimistic. Coping/dealing with the stress of medical issues has become a puzzle that needs to be solved. I have found a few pieces and have attached them for my own sanity, which I am thankful God lead me to those coping remedies and many other things.
Today's layout features my niece's Prom pictures from this past May. I used the Garden collection from Imaginisce and love the way it turned out. The flower rub ons in the Spellbinders die cuts are from the Twitter patted collection.

Trying the close up shots again.

CS is by Dollar General; cross is by Colorbok; embossing powder by The Powder Keg; circle stamp by CTMH; border punch by EK Success; Silver paper in title by CM; Stickles and liquid pearls by RI; kraft CS by OTCo; rhinestones by Basic Grey.

The title die cut comes from Cricuts cartridge Locker Talk. That one takes a while to get the best results but I was pleased with it's sparkle and how well it matched the patterned paper. Here's a few pictures of the production of decorating the die cut.
This first one is where I marked off where the frame would be so not to lose it in the glitter. Then I placed white Martha Stewart glitter glue down on the "ribbon" and topped it with MS green glitter for added dimension.

This next picture is the completion of the glitter on the "ribbon".

The picture below shows the start of the black Stickles for the frame of the die cut. Multiple layers of Stickles are needed to give the die cut full coverage.

And then I didn't (forgot to) take a photo in between the next step and the final product. The next picture is what the die cut looks like on the layout except I think I filled in that kraft colored corner )upper left) with Liquid Pearls by RI.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my layout.

Manly Monday

Sorry for the delay. I woke up to no power. I have a birthday card for you that is on the summer side of things. I used products from Echo Park; stamps by Lawn Fawn; ink by CTMH and the cardstock is from RE. The arrow was (I think) cut on my Cricut but it could have been a borrowed punch from a crop as well.

The second picture is the inside and the stamp is by Stampendous using ink by RI and sticker by Three bugs in a rug.
I may have another one later on to share but this is all I have for now. My mojo has been a "no show" these past few stressful days/weeks. I hope this week is better then the past few.

Ooh the mail guy just came knocking.........a new Stampin Up catalog is here for my viewing pleasure. Things just got better already. Gotta go dream I have a million dollars to spend in there and then have all the room to store everything:) See ya tomorrow.

Dancing layouts all with red

I have a few dance layouts to share with you. I made them in May but haven't had a chance to show them. These are double page layouts the first page being the left side and the second page being the right side. This first one is fun because the paper I used is made to correlate with Mickey Mouse embellishments. But with two all black costumes I needed to add some color in there and dance and stars go hand and hand. The little tags were for her to journal on. Since there were a lot of good pictures to showcase, that left little room for a spot to journal.

I'm not one to do my pages exactly the same on each side but I did for this particular set.

The next set are more what I do for left and right. Similar color scheme with maybe an embellishment in common. In this case the polka dot flowers and the opposite color of ribbon from the same place are on each layout. I love that the stars paper came out of a Christmas stack and I used it for a dancing layout.

The gingham paper in this one is super old by Creative Memories but it matched well enough for me to use it on her layout.

And the same goes for these last two side by side layouts. They share in common two patterned papers.

The big difference between these two would be one has everything corner rounded and the other is not but they still looked fabulous side by side.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my layouts. Leave a comment if you see something you like:)
Hugs,
Cindy

Get well Thursday

Since we were at the hospital yesterday for my husbands pneumonia I felt a get well card for today would be appropriate. Although I wouldn't give him this one. But my mom loved it for her stash and snatched it up to give to someone:) There's nothing more flattering then someone saying can stealing your card and saying  can I have this one?

Supplies: PP by K and Co (I think), CS by Bazzill; ribbon by Offray; flowers, rhinestone and brad by LSS no manufacturer listed; rub on Kaisersraft; card base RE; ink by SU and RI; Embossing folder by Sizzix
**I hope you like it and it inspires you to use two totally different colors together on your creation today.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Peaceful Banner Wednesday

I'm still messed up from the Monday holiday. Wednesday just doesn't seem right but that's what the calendar says so we'll go with it.
Here's the banner I wanted to show you. The theme of her graduation was Peace Out. The invites we made had a (Unity) bug car stamp and the license plate said peace out. So everything was very groovy for her party.
I wanted to make a banner just because I had only done one before and wasn't pleased with the results. (and the friend who I sold it to hasn't brought it up so I'm thinking it didn't work as planned) So for this one I wanted it to be easy enough I could do it the night before her party. So I printed out these digital pennants that I have to fit the entire 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock. Oh and I also didn't want to fussy cut-just use the old trimmer and call it good. Well that is just what I did and I was proud/happy with the results. Now my niece took the close up shot and I'm thinking she might just be better at close ups then I am:)
There is a crepe paper flower like thing and this is how I made it: I took some wire out of this ribbon that had wire in it. After I accordion rolled the crepe paper (very sloppy like-no perfect inch folds here) I secured the middle with that wire. Then I fanned it out to meet the other side, added adhesive (This and That by American Crafts) to one of the sides and repeated on the other side. You have to do a little fluffing of the shape but that's about it and you are done with that part.
The ribbon was left over from when we made the invitations. All the cardstock is by Recollections.

I used my Cricut to cut out the circles and letters, ribbon by Michael's and the peace punch is by Oriental Trading Co.

So I hope this inspires you to try something new today, even if it's not in your scrap room.
Thanks for stopping by today. Come back tomorrow for some cards I have been working on.

Tuesday after the holiday

This always messes me up when a holiday is on a Monday. The week just feels off to me because the trash day changes and what not. I can't think of any other examples as to why life is different but it just feels odd:)
Today I thought I would share a few layouts that I have made recently. The first being the first page in my nieces' scrapbook and then the second is the last page of  her scrapbook.
I haven't done many in fact I can't think of any off hand layouts without photos. So this was a little new for me. I loved the yellow and pinks in these Stampin' Up patterned papers along with her love for Peace signs and my favorite color green. I made my sister cry with the write up/journal. One thing I love about this LO is the little details that are hard to see from a far. So I'm including some close up shots of those details but please keep in mind I'm not the bomb at the close up shots, yet. I'm working on it.

This first one, I had the yellow die cut butterfly (an old one from Creative Memories) and I stamped/heat embossed it with a HA background stamp. Then I sprayed it with my Clearsnap smoochie spray and OMGoodness did it ever sparkle. Loved it.

This second picture just shows the different things I did with the middle border. They are all stamped/heat embossed with Stampendous embossing powder and Versa Mark ink. Then on the first flower I colored it in with Copic markers, 2nd and 3rd images I used Stickles by RI to bring out the image and the 4th stamp I just kept the same.

Here is another picture of the rest of the border where I used Stickles to make them appear a little different rather than all the same stamps used across the border. Stamps are by RE and TPCo.

This last page of her book The paper was perfect for her senior picture that sister secretly got me a 5x7 of and then a wallet that we got from her. Peace stickers are by Little Yellow Bicycle; stamps by Unity Stamp Co (sentiment) and Lawn Fawn (letters); ink by SU; tag by MME; brad by Eyelet Outlet; CS by RE.

Thanks for looking. come back tomorrow when I share the banner I made for her party. It really turned out lovely.
