Shannon's Sentiments Challenge

This week at Shannon's Sentiments our challenge is to make your own flower. I used crepe paper and a little wire from a piece of ribbon with wire in it. Before putting the flower together I rolled over the crepe paper with my Stampin' Up wheel tool using a flourish wheel in chocolate chip brown. Then I sprayed the paper with glimmer mist. I folded the paper like an accordion and wrapped wire around the stack of paper in the center. Next part I glued the two ends together and fanned it out until I liked it.

I pinched the wire to bend in half to get rid of the bulk in case I wanted to mail it out. The flower punch in the center is to cover up the wire. It is made by Marvy and for the rhinestone I used my I-Rock by Imaginisce to adhere it. The orange die behind the flower I cut out using the Cricut and Storybook cartridge then heat embossed with white embossing powder by Stampendous and then I did the resist technique using Ranger Tea dye ink and Close to my Heart color Autumn Terracotta ink.

The pot is from the Spring Time set. I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels and then ink the edges with my distressing tool by Ranger Industries.
Thanks for looking. Have a great day

365 Cards challenge Tuesday

Here we are again with another day of this week sponsorship at 365 Cards by Shannon's Sentiments. Here is the challenge:

The idea is to create a card that you could give to pretty much anyone you know (male/female, co-workers, family members, friends), so it can't be too personal and it can't be gender-specific -- but of course there's a catch.  It must have a sentiment on it, and it cannot be a thank you note.  Otherwise it
can be of any theme.

So I did another graduation card because I will soon need them for the upcoming open houses.

The sentiment is from the Follow your Dreams set. Other supplies: embossing folder and machine Cuttlebug by Provo Craft; cardbase by Halcraft; cardstock by Hobby Lobby and The Paper Co.; patterned paper by Best Creations and ink by Ranger industries.

I hope you will all play along over at 365 Cards. You are playing to win a $10 gift certificate to Shannon's Sentiments store. Good Luck:)

Expressions layout

I'm submitting this layout into the designer challenge at Scrapbooks and Cards Today. The challenge is to use worded paper on your layout.
I look at my layout and think there's a lot of white space but I really want the focus to be on the pictures. The expression in the top right picture just makes you wish you could have seen them dance. They draw me in with the emotional impact in their faces, which is so intense in the top picture and then how they switch to their cheerful, sparkling smiles in the bottom picture. It just shows their true talent not only as dancers but as actresses playing the dark and gruesome part for one and the peepy tappers part for the other. I just felt adding more embellishments would draw the eyes away from the pictures. I was thinking of a journal box for the young lady to write in but there is gigantic one on the other side of this two page layout. So there is really no need for her to journal on this page too. So here it is:

The worded paper is the white scalloped edge and the background paper of the single photo.
Big star stamp, red paper and ink by Stampin' Up; background paper by Creative Memories; sparkle border by White Blossom; glitter in the star stamp by Jo-Ann Stores; star stamp by The Paper Studio; "Remember" stamp by Fiskars; eyelets by Making Memories and "Super Star" stamp is unknown.
Thanks for looking.

Congrats Grad 365 Cards challenge

All this week at 365 cards Shannon's Sentiments is sponsoring their challenges. Todays challenge is:

Sometimes you have exciting news to share, and you just have to do it in a big, big way.
That's what this challenge is about - just sayin' it right there on the front of your card.
Without a specific message, this is the kind of card you can leave blank on the inside ready for whatever big news lies ahead!

Well I didn't understand the  challenge as well as it is worded above and my example is not exactly what they had in mind but I'm going to show you anyway.
I did a graduation card with a big banner that is not gender specific and  could be used for any type of graduation.

I used the  striped pennants from the banner set called Shout Out. I used a gel marker in between the stripes and then inked the edges black. The paper that the borders is printed on has speckled glittery dots on it and I don't know who it is made by. The gel pen and all of the other paper is by Creative Memories, stamps by Stampendous and Recollections, embossing powder by Stampendous and ink by Versa Mark and Memento Inks.

So head on over to 365 cards and join in on the challenge where you can win a $10 gift certificate to Shannon's Sentiments store. I will be back tomorrow with another card for Tuesdays challenge.
I hope everyone is having a great Monday:)

Manly Monday is alive again

Welcome back for another Manly Monday card post created by Me:) This one I made for an 18-year-old young man (my friend's kid).

OK, so I didn't notice the swirls and flowers on top. But she gave it to him and I never heard any bad feedback from it. The fun thing about this card is the tag is from a set of chipboard stickers for dogs. Love it when you can use products intended for one thing, a totally different way:)
Happy Monday all. May the Easter celebration that occurred yesterday still shine brightly in your words and actions throughout this joyous beginning of the new week.

Dancer Card for I Did it Creations Challenge

This week at IDIC the challenge is a recipe: 1 image, 2 patterned papers, and 3 embellishments. We were sponsored by Stitchy Stamps. Here is my card.

Now you see my 1 image and the 2 patterned papers are the circles behind the image and the butterfly. My three embellies are brads, stamped flourish and label from Elle's Studio. I must get going. Have a Happy Easter everyone.
I'm also using this card for the challenge at Frosted Designs for their Friday challenge of a butterfly. Thanks for looking.

Tags using Shannon's Sentiments digital image

This week the DT challenge at Shannon's Sentiments is anything but a card. I made a bunch of tags using Shannon's sentiments.
Here they are all together and following is each tag and there appropriate links to get those quotes or images.

The quote and tape measure are from the Days Gone by set and the tag is from Vintage Tag set. The paper behind is cut using Spellbinders rectangle dies with Ranger Distressing ink and Glimmer mist on them. The brads are by Close to my Heart.
This tag is from the Colored Vintage Tag set, quote from the Mother's Love Set and the leaves are from the Easter Time set.

I have no idea where the stamp came from. I just sold it in the garage sale last Saturday. I masked the single shoe to look like a pair and then colored it in with Copic markers. (they remind me of something my mother wore when we were growing up.) The quote is from the Days Gone By set.

The quote is from the Summertime add on kit and the tag is from the Colored Vintage tag set. The die behind the tag is a Spellbinders label #4 and ink is by Ranger.

**A reminder that Shannon is having a DT call. Check out the deets HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my creations. Have a good weekend.

Earth Day Blog Hop

Welcome to Shannon's Sentiments Earth Day blog hop. You should have arrived here from Jen's blog and if not start back at the beginning right HERE. There are only a few of us so this won't take up a ton of time. At the end, if you comment on each blog there is a prize of a free image or SET from the store to a  random person that comments on all the blogs. The sets are awesome and you can see them HERE.

I've made a card using the RE-cycle set. I used a aqua pen from Stampin' Up and Memento ink to color in the images and scraps that were on my table from another project.

The background was made using a The Paper Co. border stamp that I continually stamped on the paper with Ranger Distressing ink Forest Moss; brads by Close to my Heart; green cardstock by Stampin' Up; Glimmer Mist on the circle punched by Creative Memories.

After you leave a comment here, you will go to Christy's blog and continue on with the hop.
*Don't forget that Shannon's Sentiments is holding a DT call and you can find the information HERE.

Thanks for stopping by:)

Purple Dance Layouts

I'm making a book for a graduating senior about her life in dance. I have to say these are my favorite kinds of books to do; all girl, all pretty colors, flowers galore and bling. I'm just an all girl kind of gal. So here's the layout left side first then right. The journal spot is blank for her to write in when I give her the book.

Supplies: patterned paper by The Paper Studio, stamps by Unity, Technique Tuesday and Sei, floss by Karen Foster, Cricut cartridge Lyrical letters, ink by Versa Mark, Stampin' Up and Memento, purple border sticker by Creative Memories.

Patterned paper by K&Co, Carstock by Creative Memories and The Paper Co, Stickers by Me and My Big Ideas and Fiskars, Cricut cartridge Storybook, Stamps by Fiskars and Elle Studio, die cut (purple box) by Elle's Studio, (rectangle green) by Quick Quotes and (green journal spot) by Jillibean.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Manly Monday

I have to bail on Manly Monday but just for this week. I am out of sorts from last week, and can't find the cards I made for this post.
There was a scrapbooking garage sale at my LSS on Saturday and the preparation for that involved so much more then I thought it would. I made $100+, which is a good thing and nice to see old supplies go to new homes that might use them. The whole thing just drained me.
Then my family had an Easter egg hunt on Sunday that I made games and a tube to put them in for everyone there. It took up some time that I normally have free. I made two games but we were only able to play one game and that was fine. My family was so awesome about playing bingo. I think everyone there had fun with doing something different then what we normally do. Plus their positive feedback was very encouraging and made me feel all fuzzy inside.
So I noticed that my followers have been going down and I'm not sure why but I'm here to tell you I will have a post for each day for the next week. Some of those posts will be cards and some scrapbook layouts. I have a tutorial on a flower ready to run and may possibly run that after finishing this post. I've got a few things up my sleeve in the way of a blog prize/candy so stay tuned for that. Don't give up on my blog quite yet. The best is yet to come.

Shannon Sentiments Blog Hop April 15

Welcome to Shannon's Sentiments April release blog hop. We have lots of great images to show you today and hope you will leave some love at each DT and GDT blogs.
You should be here from Kapree's blog if not then go back to the begining at the Sentiments Storefront blog and start from the top. The nice thing about our DT is there only a few of us so a blog hop won't take you an hour like some of them do. It will probably take me longer to type out this post and preset then for you to get to each DT and GDT blog. lol.

So my card is from the Father's day set. Sorry for the delay in posting. My mistake. I need to organize my time better on busy weeks like this one is. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Stamps that make the bottom pinstripes are by Technique Tuesday and The Paper Co. I used Versa Mark ink to stamp them and heat embossed them with Stampendous embossing powder. Grey paper is by Creative Memories and blue by Hobby Lobby. The circle is by Sassafrass lass however the coloring was more red therefore I color the red parts burgundy. The sticker behind the sentiment is also Creative Memories and ribbon is by Offray.

Tap dance Class with Teacher and student

Here is a layout I made with a sketch from Frosted Designs. The sketch is below and you have until (I think) April 18th to post it and link it back to Frosted Designs.
I also used this layout for a challenge at Two Peas last week. This challenge is going on the entire month of April. You have to have a stamped journaling spot on your layout. I did ask before hand if writing on the journaling spot was necessary to be able to enter the contest. With her approval that there did not have to be writing on the stamped journaling image I was able to enter this layout.
I am making a dancing book for a former student of mine and she was nice enough to allow me to use her layouts for challenges and to post on my blog. I think it helps keep the layouts all a tad bit different especially if you are using sketches.
She is going to write in the book and therefore that is why the stamped journaling spot would be empty. Here's the sketch:

Here's another part of the layout that I thought turned out cool. If you follow my blog then you saw the other side of this layout on Sunday's post.  And if not you can see it right HERE. But in there and on this post I'm showing you what the image looked like prior to my decorating it. I wanted the show to look like a patent leather tap show and Glossy Accents by Ranger helped me with that. So below you are seeing the image before and a close up of the tap shoe after adding things to it and lots of drying time.

Thanks for stopping by today. Another Shannon's Sentiments will be taking over in 40 minutes. They are beautiful stamp sets with add ons and all kinds of other things that you won't want to miss. Have a great Wednesday

Branch with pink flowers card

I kept this information in to show me what I was doing at that point in my life. 8-18-22

It's finally time for the "Shannon's Sentiments" April release!!! . This month we're switching things up a bit from the releases we've done the past few months. This month we'll be releasing 7 large individual images along with 4 Add-On sets, 1 mini set, and 1 full set.

We also have a guest designer challenge going on that you'll want to check out and participate in. The deadline to enter is the 18th, so hurry and link up your project.

My card is an image from the Spring branch mini set, which I colored in most of the flowers with Copic markers and then added Stickles to them. The branch is purely green Stickles because I made the image a little to small to color in. A list of supplies follows the image. Thanks for looking and leaving comments. They are always appreciated.
Today we're starting out featuring the Chaise Lounge with Umbrella and Potting Bench images along with the Summertime Add-On set and the Spring Branch mini set. The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on April 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

The design team call is still open until the 1st of May. I hope you will all apply!!!

Supplies: grey paper by Creative Memories, green and pink by Dollar General, sentiment stamp by The Paper Co, Copic Markers, ink by Colorbox, Stickles by Ranger, border punch by Stampin' Up, cardbase by Recollections and die cuts by Spellbinders.

Manly Monday

This week I combined my manly Monday with a challenge at Two Peas. (This link will take you to the calendar of what has been done so far.) Two Peas is having a 30 Days of Stamping & Cardmaking. They are having giveaways and all kinds of challenges for everyone to be a part of. I really liked this challenge and may do it on my own. What is it? You use the same stamp on three different cards in three different ways. So I made the one below for my Hubby's 40th, which coming up way to quickly. The other two I made you can find HERE.

There's a couple of techniques in this card. I paper pieced the car, I cut out the car and saved a little around the edges and then inked it red. I was hoping to make it pop more but it could just be the 3 in the morning picture. I then added Stickles to the window but now that I think about it glossy accents probably would have been a more manly way to go. The banner is Glimmer mist using a Cricut negative as a mask and then cut out with decorative scissors. It's a square card which is a box but out of my box.

Supplies: Alphabet stamps-Lawn Fawn (new to me Jessie alphabet and lovin' it), Car/Bug stamp by Unity Stamp Co, Patterned paper by (black) Recollections, (stripes) Basic Grey and (rust with circles) Creative Memories. Border punch by Martha Stewart, brads unknown, Glimmer mist by Tattered angels, ink by Ranger, Versa Mark and Memento, Embossing powder by Stampendous, stickers by Sticko, Stickles by Ranger, cardbase unknown, and scallop scissors by Fiskars.

I also want to enter this card into the following challenges:
Frosted Designs(FRI)- using brads on your project and I have two of them in the left upper corner
Paper Sundaes(SU)-Childhood memories. Who doesn't remember getting hit by their brother while he says "slug bug blus no slug bug back":)
Annabelle Stamps(FR)-say it with a banner
Crafty Catz(FR)-embossing (bug is heat embossed)
Fairy Tale(FR)-Happy Birthday
The Stamp Man Challenge(FR)-embossing
Stamp Insanity(Fr)-going retro

I Did It Creations Sunday Challenge

This week our IDIC challenge is brought to you by JLJ Designs.  The challenge is to use a song title. I chose to use the tap shoe image to incorporate it into a scrapbook I am working on right now. I did some fun stuff to it the night before:

  • I colored it in with a black Copic marker except the bow
  • I put a rhinestone on the bow with my I-rock by Imaginisce
  • Then using Ranger Stickles Star Dust I colored in the bow
  • At the same time I used Rangers Designer series Distress Sickles in brushed pewter for the taps on the bottoms of the shoes
  • After those were dry I used Glossy Accents from Ranger to completely cover the entire shoe making it look like a patent leather tap shoe.
So I would like to shoe you the before and the after:

HERE is a link to her blog.

So I hope you will join us this week with your craft project that features a song title at I Did It Creations challenge blog.

Lady Bug Card

This week at Shannon's Sentiments our challenge is to use an animal in your card or project. I chose to use the ladybug in the Spring time set for my card.

I used glossy accents for the spots. It turned out very cute in person. Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great weekend.

A bug that goes Beep! Beep! Hooray!

I took the last two days off from pre-posting and blogging. But it's coming up on the weekend and that means Saturday is a challenge from Shannon's Sentiment, Sunday is I Did It Creations and Manly Monday (which I really like this card and hope you will too) My card is one of three for a challenge at Two Peas. The challenge was to use the same stamp three different ways. I think I may have taken the harder route for this because I was looking at another persons cards and she did the exact same layout for each one. I didn't do that. I read the challenge as use the same stamp three different ways and so here is my first way: (I will post my second way on Monday and third for Tuesday.) But on with the card:

I used the Bug stamp from UnityStamp Co. This doesn't look as cool photographed as it does in real life. I heat embossed the image on a marquee diecut made from my Cricut Stoybook cartridge. I used Versa Mark ink and Stampendous gold embossing powder. After it cooled I sprayed the diecut with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls in gold made by Ranger. Upon waiting for it to dry I took a large cardbase (well large for me 5x6.5) made by Halcraft and used a scrap of K&Co paper on the left and a new piece of Elle's Studio paper on the bottom right. I picked out the flowers where the pink and cream colored flowers are by the Oriental Trading Co and the sheer flower is by Prima. The marquee was dry so I wrapped Stampin' Up pink ribbon around the marquee in the middle and on top of that is ribbon by TPC and a brad from Making Memories. The letters below the ribbon are old ones from Current and the stamped letters on the license plate are from Lawn Fawn with ink by Stampin' Up. It's always so nice to use old products. Last thing I did was to put a Zot in the middle of the pink half of a flower and poured these little beads over it. You just kind of push them together and onto the glue dot until you are happy and clean up the rest for next time. I'm not sure who makes the beads because a friend gave me half of hers and it was a while back.
So today is Friday and for some it is only one more weekend and then back to school. Sorry to those of you. I hope you have a great weekend. I plan on hanging with some friends Friday and the Saturday so that will be good for my spirits.

Dance Layouts

I did decide to pre-post one more day and share some layouts that may be leaving my closet pretty soon. One of the young ladies in these pictures is graduating this year and I am making her a dance scrapbook. Dance has been a major part of her life and recording the memories in one book is not only fun for me but also a great way for me to "pay back" her parents for all the hard work, support and dedication they showered me with when I was involved in dance. They are the nicest people you will ever meet and I just want to give something back to them.
For years they used their horse trailer to tote props (a lot of props and sometimes heavy props) from competition to competition all over Michigan and sometimes out of state for national competitions. You know it would have been cheaper for the three of them to take a smaller vehicle to these competitions instead of their big truck carrying a load behind it. Of coarse we would get them something at the end of the year but I never felt it was enough. This is my way of giving back to them and they are going to love this book, Mom, dad and daughter.
Anyway, I have the pictures she gave me to scrap but also had some of my own, which I had already scrapped. So I thought to myself, if she liked these already done LO's I would add them to her book. There really is no reason for me to hold onto them anymore and if she would enjoy them then by golly I should give them to her. So these are the pictures I took to get her approval and they haven't had much editing done to them but you get to see them and that's what counts.

This next one is a two pager

So there's something new to look at besides my cards. I will have a layout from her book posted on Sunday. I am using one of my DT digital stamps in a layout instead of a card this week. I will post this on Sunday.
Best Wishes for a happy Tuesday:)

Manly Monday

Here are some owl cards that I made. The first one is more manly than the other but why not post them together is what I thought.

For the first one, there was a call on one of my blog buddies blog for cards for her friend with MS that is turning 50. The other one comes from a call from the paper for a woman turning 99 the first week in April and therefore this is the card I came up with.

Thanks for stopping by. If you want to know any of the supplies just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. I hope to post more tomorrow but better not make any promises. This coming from the gal that just preposted 4 days worth of blog posts.

Maybe I will be sassy and do one more for Tuesday. Anywhooo, Happy Monday all.

I Did It Creations

This week at I Did it Creations we were sponsored and given an image by Glitterbabe for our Anything goes challenge. I received this lovely sewing set and thought it was "sew" nice for a thank you card. hehe.

The dotted line on the image was placed on by using Photoscape. Stamp by Lawn Fawn and ink by Stampin' Up. Corner punch by Creative Memories.

Be sure to stop by the IDIC blog to see the other DT projects for some fabulous inspiration.

Christmas cards all year round

Wow! Where did Thursday go? I had a friend over for dinner and then went to work on clearing off my desk, which still isn't clean but as soon as I am done posting I am back to it. So sorry but I will have to post the owl cards for Manly Monday.

This month at Christmas Cards all year Round the challenge is to use an oval and then also add some ribbon to your card. I have made a few examples and will have more to showcase throughout the month as a reminder to get those Christmas cards started and entered into our challenge. Here are my three cards:

Here are the rules from the site:
*Remember if you do 5 cards this month following the challenge, your name will go into a draw for a prize at the end of April! (this challenge CAN be combined with any other blog or forum challenges that you do this month.)

*Please upload your cards to your blog, a gallery, or photobucket and remember to give us the EXACT links to see them.
*You can do 5 of the same cards or 5 different ones (as long as they follow the current challenge) If you do 5 of the same, please show us a picture of them altogether.
*If the linky isn't working for you for any reason, just post your link in the comments!
*Also, if at least 20 people create 5 cards we'll pick a second winner!

I hope you will all play along. Last month, the prize was awesome. I wish I could have won it.
Go over to CCAYR to see the other DT inspiration. There are some very talented ladies on this team.
Bye for today:)
